Surgical Oncology

The President's Meeting 2015 explored the theme of 'Surgical Oncology' and took place at The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh on Friday 20 March 2015.

Advances in surgical technique and in the organisation and delivery of care have contributed significantly to improved outcomes for patients with cancer. The focus of the 2015 President's Meeting was to provide updates in recent developments across the surgical specialties.

Highlights included Professor Timothy J. Eberlein (Bixby Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and Surgeon-in-Chief at Barnes-Jewish Hospital) who delivered the McKeown Lecture on 'Delivering High Quality Cancer Care in 2015'. 

Professor Arnold Hill (Professor and Chair of Surgery and the Head of the Medical School in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) delivered the Lister Legacy Lecture on 'Centralisation of Cancer Services - The Good and The Bad', and Professor Alastair Munro (Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Dundee & Honorary Consultant Oncologist NHS Tayside) asked 'Is Radiotherapy Obsolete?'.
