Emergency Surgery in the 21st Century

The President's Meeting 2014 explored the theme of 'Emergency Surgery in the 21st Century' and took place on 21 March 2014. 

The above video captures the highlights from the meeting, which included the Lister Legacy Lecture by internationally renowned trauma surgeon, Dr Ernest Moore (Denver, USA) who discussed ‘Controversies in Post-injury Haemostasis’, as well as the role of the ‘Acute Care Surgeon’.

Other highlights from this Meeting included Professor Gordon Carlson who delivered the McKeown Lecture on ‘Abdominal Catastrophe – the Salvage of Surgical Disaster’ and the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland’s Director of Emergency Surgery, Mr Iain Anderson discussed the current practice of emergency surgery in the UK.
