SHINE Surgical Ward Round Toolkit
The project to develop the Surgical Ward Round Toolkit was sponsored by a grant from SHINE (Health Foundation) and was carried out jointly between the Patient safety Board of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Using an adapted NOTSS (Non-Technical Skills for Surgeons) system and a ward round based structured checklist, the aim of the Toolkit is to reduce errors and improve safety on surgical wards. The introductory video describes the various parts of the toolkit:

The different parts of the toolkit are explained in the separate documents, downloadable below. Tool 3 can be adapted for an individual unit's needs and reproduced using the Powerpoint document.
