About the Role

Reporting to the HR Manager, the Health and Safety Officer post is a generalist role. In this role you will be responsible for communicating the Health & Safety Policy to employees, ensuring the monitoring and reviewing of the Health & Safety Policy, carrying out Fire and Risk Assessment for all buildings on the College Campus, carrying out General Health & Safety Risk reviews College wide annually and ensuring that all other required risk assessments carried out.

You will also carry out Health and Safety Training and College First Aid Meetings, ensure that all assessment duties are understood and carried out by relevant staff, advise Senior Management about governing legislation, advise Line Managers regarding safe systems of work and any instance where such systems must be in writing and liaise with all enforcement agencies in a competent and professional manner and brief senior Management accordingly.

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

You will have a good level of general education. A NEBOSH Qualification at least General Certificate level (other NEBOSH Qualifications an advantage) is essential as are influencing skills and leadership skills. You will be I.T. literate and have good Interpersonal and communication skills.

You will be an experienced Health and Safety Officer with a track record of managing all essential aspects of organisational health and safety. Experience of Fire Risk Assessment is essential as is experience of Health & Safety issues in Laboratories, general offices, Manual handling (some or all). Experience of staff training with regards to Health and Safety is also essential whilst Management of Health & Safety in an educational or health environment is desirable.
