The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of surgeons, dental surgeons and doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients. Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership of around 23,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will assist in managing the financial affairs of the College, Hill Square Educational Trust and the Joint Committee on Intercollegiate Examinations (JCIE). The Head of Finance will liaise closely with, and provide support to, the Director of Finance, the Chief Executive and the Honorary Treasurer. He/she will attend Board meetings and other development committees as appropriate.
Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills
Educated to degree level or equivalent and CA, ACA or CIMA (or equivalent) qualified you will have a successful track record in financial management at a Senior level. Experience of business and commercial management including profit and loss (bottom line) responsibility and delivery within budget is essential as is experience of improving financial performance through effective budgeting, performance management and forecasting processes. Accountable team leadership and building effective internal and external networks is also essential as is a demonstrable track record in successful strategic thinking and planning. Experience of a professional membership organisation and knowledge of SUN Accounting Systems is desirable.
