Reductions and Exemptions

Newly Elected

Fellows and Members are eligible for a pro-rata reduction in their subscription fee in the year they are elected, based on the number of days in the year remaining after election.

Less-than-Full Time Trainees and Staff and Associate Specialists

Fellows and Members who are in training or are SAS grade, who are paying a full subscription rate, working in the NHS, with that being their sole source of income, and working or training less than full time, are eligible for a reduction from the subscription on a pro-rata basis based on the percentage time worked. Your NHS employer must provide written confirmation of your hours including their start date and any completion date. Confirmation by email is accepted.

Maternity and Paternity Leave

Fellows and Members, paying a full subscription rate, who are on maternity or paternity leave for between one and twelve months are eligible for a pro rata reduction on their annual subscription, to be applied in the first full subscription year after notification. Eligibility is agreed on production of a copy of the MAT B1 certificate (or equivalent for overseas) or relevant paperwork from your employer in cases of reduction for paternity leave.

Fellows and Members engaged in full-time, self-funding education who do not hold a salaried post are exempt from the subscription for the duration of their course. The University must provide written confirmation of the course, with commencement and completion dates. Confirmation by email is accepted.
